Happy Birthday, Barack - August 4, 2008 - 47 !
Hi, I'm Barack. Let's face it, I'm an orator. If you're amazed by my recognition and acceptance as "Citizen of the World", ... get over it!
I'm a self-assumed head of State and World Leader and, you might ask, "Where can I possibly go from
here?"Well, that's not the question. The question is: What's my character?
If I were a tea bag, what would I be when in hot water? What do I stand for?

Now let's try to clarify this. No one seems to know who I am. Look at my track record as a member of the Illinois Legistlature and United States Senator for 18 months.
1. My Voting Track Record - Quite to the left of left. Ok, I like left.
Visit my website for the United States Senate: obama.senate.gov, and you'll find my favorite vote is "Not Voting". That's because I have a hard time committing myself on issues that may tip my hand on where I stand.
Oh, I did vote "Nay" on some issues, like "Codify an unborn child" (8/2/07 NAY), "Make income tax deduction for individuals purchasing health care insurance" (3/14/08 NAY), "Modernizing the FISA act" (2/12/08 NAY), "Intensifying research on non-embryonic stem cells" (4/11/07 NAY), "Repealing the Alternative Minimum Tax" (3/23/07 NAY), and "Strengthening the security of cargo containers" (3/1/07, NAY).
For example, in the 110th Congress (this year, as of 28 July), I have had 189 opportunities to vote. Of these, I voted 69 times. Go to my site and check it out! You'll find I have only voted 37% of the time in the current session (110th Congress).
| But don't let that be a model for you - I want you to get out and vote for me in November! |
2. Yes, I Vote "Present" for "No" [Does that make sense?]
This works great! I learned this trick when working for the State Legislature in Illinois. Why vote "Nay" when you can achieve an equal effect by just saying "Present" (or No Vote)?
That way you can block a bill from passing without turning your card and being a political sitting duck. It's great! As you can see, I use this over and over.
[Reference] See: The Washington Post for an interesting article on how I keep the National Organization of Women (NOW) happy on pro-abortion votes, without becoming a sitting duck politically. It's really good for keeping a Special Interest Group happy without looking like you're pandering to them.
